About

Emily Ewell is the CEO and co-founder of Pantys, the leading absorbent apparel brand innovating in health and sustainability globally. After launching Pantys as the first period underwear in Latin America, she drove the development of many market “firsts” including the first absorbent leak-proof nursing bra worldwide, trans boxers for men who menstruate, leak-proof swimwear, absorbent activewear, and an incontinence line with the highest absorption (100ml) of any reusable absorbent underwear in the global market. Pantys is also a certified B Corporation and the first lingerie brand to launch carbon labels, making their entire product portfolio 100% carbon neutral.

Source of Climate Optimism

My background is in healthcare and public health and I don’t think there’s ever been a moment where people have been so aware of the connection between our health and the health of the planet. The pandemic was a “wake-up” moment for so many to understand how fragile the global ecosystem is and Google reported during this time over 4550% increases in searches for “how to live a sustainable lifestyle” and over 80% of people say sustainability is more top of mind now than before the pandemic.

I’m climate optimistic because I know that the power of making a difference is in consumer choices. The more people choose to consume sustainable products and solutions, the more innovation and availability will flood the market and phase out less environmentally-friendly alternatives.

B Corporation Assessment

When we stared Pantys, we knew from Day 1 that we wanted to be a certified B Corp. I believe strongly in this framework and assessment as a tool to help guide companies in understanding sustainability (social, environmental, governance etc.) in a holistic way. Even if you have no idea where you are on your journey, this will give you a clear understanding of what is needed to be a truly more impactful organization.
